If you say it enough, it must be true.

Last night President Obama made his State of the Union speech. I have to admit that I don’t agree with everything he says or does, but I do like him as a public speaker. He’s got that skill down perfect. I mean this dude can sell an apple computer to bill gates, he’s that good at delivering speeches…

So I watched the State of the Union speech, I initially was sitting on my couch upright focused on what our elected president was saying, and through the speech I found myself getting irritated it was exhausting and by the end of the speech I had fell over and was sleeping, so yes I missed the end but that’s ok.

So why was I irritated? It’s simple. I like our country, I think we have a great thing going for us. See we live in a free market system… Or at least we used to where when an in-balance happened in time the market would straighten itself out. There are tons of case studies and examples in history on how if you let the free market work, it will restore balance to itself through choices people make.  So when I heard Obama talking about how he didn’t want to do the bank bailout but he had to because without doing it things may have gotten worse, more jobs lost, more homes foreclosed. But you see he uses the word “MAY” which means he doesn’t know, how can he? No one really knows what would have happened. So saying that he through billions at banks and because of that we saved X number of jobs is all fake information. It’s that info that is spread to make everyone feel all warm inside, where they can pat themselves on the back saying “we did good.” But the truth is, the bank bailout in my opinion should have never happened. I do believe in the free market system working itself out and who’s to say the recovery of our society ISN’T the free market system at work? I’m wondering if the money even did anything or if the fact it’s been a while since this whole thing happened if the free market corrected itself, and we threw money down the drain…

In fact I’m pretty sure we threw money down the drain. Let me explain why. See when Obama bailed out the banks he did so using money that we don’t have, if you have any debt you don’t have any money because every dollar you have is actually someone else’s you borrowed. So we lent all this money we don’t have and said “this is for banks and we are going only use it for that.” So fast forward a year or however long it’s been and listen to the State of the Union speech where Obama says that he wants to use this money that was repaid and spend that billions on small businesses now so banks will lend to them…… WTF just happened here? Taxpayers were opposed to the bank bailout and now the money’s been returned and rather then pay off the debt that it created were just going to spend that money somewhere else?

But don’t worry, Obama has a plan for that, see he’s also wanting to put fee’s on the big banks that are giving massive  bonuses because “they can afford it” if they can afford to give bonuses. But if my theory on greed is correct and from what I’ve seen in retail worlds the government is going to impose these fees on these big banks, etc and who do you think is going to pay those fees? The business? Heck no, they will just raise their rates to the customers like individuals and small businesses which means YOU tha taxpayer are paying the fees levied by the government to these big banks which got YOUR money to stay in business….. Just how many stupid things can we do at one time?

And I am sentimental towards businesses closing. I lost my job last year after the company I worked at for over 7 years filed bankruptcy and shut down without giving me any notice, severance, etc and I had to move several hundred miles to find a new job. That meant I had to sell my home at a tremendous loss because Wall Street and the banks got greedy so chalk up another large amount of money I am paying because of their errors. And we bought a small, modest house well within our means. I mean our mortgage lender we had was saying we could afford a $250,000 house and we knew we couldn’t so we only bout a $120,000 house. We were smart and still got our heads taken off.  So yes I know the pain when your business shuts down and you are out of work. In my case my wife and I made large sacrifices to sell our home and move on with our lives. So many people I know refuse to move to where jobs are. They want to stay close to family and yet stay out of work.  So many people I worked with at my last job are still out of work over a year later and hardly any of them want to move out of the area like I did.

But in life you have to make sacrifices to succeed. This attitude that “I deserve” is bogus. You don’t deserve anything, As a society we need to grow up and realize what’s going on. Because the heads in Washington really are out of touch. I applaud what Obama was saying in some areas I think he had some great points like giving tax breaks to companies in America that have jobs over here and impose extra levies on those that outsource. Yes those fees will be handed down to the customer in the forms of higher prices for goods, but that will make the outsourced products the same price with quality American made. So in that regards it works.

I don’t know, I feel like I’m starting to ramble here and it just really irritates me to listen to these speeches and hear so much and be sitting there going through my head the countless ways it isn’t going to work. But Mr. President if you are confident that bailing banks MAY have saved jobs then good for you, that is where we disagree.

And I’m sick of this “don’t ask don’t tell” B.S.  If your gay or straight I couldn’t care less. I applaud you for being in our military no matter who you are or what you desire. But I honestly don’t think our tax money, or our time should be spent on such an idiotic policy as “don’t ask don’t tell.” In my eyes this is a policy that should never have been put into place. To steal a line from one comedian this goes on the page right after “are we eating to much peanut butter as a people.” I mean is “Don’t ask don’t tell” really that critical in our nations interest or security?  Sometimes I just can’t believe how crooked the priorities are……

And don’t get me started with party lines… Oh it just irritates me to see half the room applaud and the other half sitting pissed off in those state of the unions. It’s like no one can think for themselves and we wonder why NOTHING ever comes out of the government. You ever watch the British house of parliament? I used to watch that for a few hours when it was on a station I had and I loved how things were done. Everything was swift and people just stood up yelling and cheering. But stuff appeared to get done. In our land you can’t get anything done… Why can’t we just have everyone in the government have their own minds and vote for whats right based on ohh say the peoples will and NOT politics. It’s so freaking childish it’s ridiculous.

I should run for president… We need like Ty Pennington to take his extreme makeover crew to D.C. and just tear down the current people and let’s just restart from scratch. We have far to many people in places holding up progress. Some are so old they aren’t in touch with what needs to happen and some are just to owned by the lobbyist who pays them to make the right decisions…

I need to stop otherwise I’ll have a novel the length of war and peace on my gripes.

I watched the news… And now I am dizzy from all the spinning.

November 10th, 2008

I used to listen to the news all the time, but then I started to realize how each major network had an agenda. Those that were republican and supported the president would always spin the good news. Even that one channel that says “fair and balanced” and “the spin stops here.”

Those that were opposed to Bush would spin the news and only report on the deaths and mistakes that were made.

You really have to watch both network just to try to keep your sanity.

There is a saying that goes: “a bird needs two wings to fly, the left and the right.” If you think about that saying you realize that our country is that bird, and it’s amazing how the left wing groups and right wing groups clash and try to eliminate each other at the countries expense. If we don’t have the two wings working together one of two things will happen, either we will crash and burn or best case scenario we’ll be flying in circles.

I’ve pretty much been sick of the news for some time now. It’s gotten to the point where I simply don’t believe what they say. I know there is some truth to it, but I really don’t want “some. ” I want all the facts and I want to be able to make my own decisions on if it’s good or bad. But then again when channels only give about 30 seconds to a news story how much detail can they give? These channels need to pick through what proves their point right and only air that in the 30 second news flashes.

The latest person I am tired of listening to is Michael Savage of the Savage nation. Now I really enjoy Michael as a speaker. He is very bright and really knows his history, do I believe everything he says? No, but I appreciate the detail he goes into when he talks. The problem I am having is pre-obama winning the election all you would hear on the Savage nation is how the world is coming to the end, that Obama will take away talk radio with the use of fair doctrine, it would be chaos, etc. Now, while I don’t totally believe that it was interesting to hear him say it along with why he felt that. Fast forward to after the election and now you hear people on the savage nation constantly repeating each others thoughts, Savage himself now has appeared to have had a change in attitude and yesterday was saying something along the lines of how he wasn’t afraid of Obama that the people had the power and that there was no way talk radio was going anywhere, etc..

Which one is it? Are you scared or are you not? Is talk radio in danger? These are not things I care about, but I do care that the opinions change drastically. First it was “we are in danger as a nation if obama wins.” And now it’s “I’m not worried the people of the power.”  And I am not a loyal listener so maybe I missed some great revelation, anything is possible. I used to podcast the show and listen to it now and then on the way to and from work. But it’s almost like I’m listening to an entirely different guy, and entirely different attitude. The caller base is still the same calling in and saying “how did we let this happen? how can a non-born person be president?” So the listener base has not had the attitude adjustment yet either.

As for me, I watch the Colbert Report for my news. I know it’s comedy but that sometimes is what you need in times like these. I still don’t believe everything I hear as I’m sure there is an agenda on that show as well but at least I can laugh when I watch it. So politics are no longer on my iPod and instead I spend my days thinking for myself and not being spoon-fed what people want me to believe.

I do look forward to the day that a news channel opens up and reports truly unbiased news. Show us the good in the world and the bad. Don’t candy coat to make it better then it is and don’t with hold information to protect your candidate. Just do one thing… Your Job! But I know that will probably never happen, gone are the days of independent reporters now that major companies own the news channels and all are in bed with one controversial group or affiliation that has an agenda to push on the people.

McCain lost the campaign by himself.

John, come on man. You were going to win.  There is only one person that can blame on you losing the presidential race in 2008, and that “my friend” is you. Yes I am predicting that you will lose big time.

I was emailed this video below and watched it and am not surprised by the content. I’m sure Obama has similar ghosts in his closet but he really is to green for them to be easy to find. But still, after the debate last night which I feel McCain lost big time because he didn’t look confident, stumbled over his words and talked “around the issues” rather then directly answering them. Like “How do we fix social security?” And Mccain says “we all know how to fix it.” Then he goes on to talk about medicare. Ummm, how do we fix it John? And when? Then you look at the scandals Mccain has been associated with and the smear tactics palin has been told to use against Obama you have a mix where McCain can win at all.  Obama on the other hand looked confident. He was very presidential in the way he appeared and talked whereas McCain hobbled around the stage thanking everyone for coming and for such great questions which he would not answer completely.

Have I mentioned how much I hate politics? Anyway, the video is below regarding the McCain “Keating Economics” and then below it is another video from CNN’s truth squad to show the validity of Obama’s claim on McCain.

So is this all true? Here’s CNN’s truth squad investigating it. They say yes.

Some of Palin's remarks stretch the truth

October 3rd, 2008

Not to appear “biased” I’ll post some of Palin’s questionable statements during the VP debate. Regardless, According to one count Biden lied 14 times, Palin only made a few mistakes.

Daily News staff and wire report

(09/04/08 01:48:20)

Gov. Sarah Palin’s remarks to the Republican National Convention about her record in state government stretched the truth.

GAS PIPELINE

PALIN: “I fought to bring about the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history. And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly forty billion dollar natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence. That pipeline, when the last section is laid and its valves are opened, will lead America one step farther away from dependence on dangerous foreign powers that do not have our interests at heart. THE FACTS: Palin implies that construction has begun on a major natural gas pipeline from the top of Alaska into Canada. That is not correct.

In fact, no building has begun and actual construction is years away, if it ever happens. This summer the Alaska Legislature, at Palin’s request, passed a bill under which the state will issue a “license” to a Canadian energy company, TransCanada Corp., and pay it up to $500 million as an incentive to someday build this enormous project, which Alaska politicians have long sought with little success. The license is not a construction contract, and federal energy regulators have not yet approved the project.

Palin also puts the price tag for the project at $40 billion, an exaggeration. This is roughly $10 billion more than most cost estimates industry players and consultants have made to date.

EARMARKS

PALIN: “I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending … and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress ‘thanks but no thanks’ for that Bridge to Nowhere.” THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million.

In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation, although she has cut, by more than half, the amount the state sought from Washington this year. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to Gravina Island, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a “bridge to nowhere.”
